Important Travel Information
• Travel Insurance Please remember to bring a photocopy of the first page of your travel insurance policy. This should include your policy number and the emergency contact numbers. It’s essential to confirm that your insurance covers both air and land evacuation costs.
• Health Precautions We highly recommend that you consult your doctor before your trip, especially regarding vaccinations. As you will be traveling to high-altitude, cold regions, it is advisable to take the Pneumonia vaccine for added protection. Always follow your doctor’s advice to ensure you are well-prepared for the trip.
• Money Matters Here is a breakdown of the additional costs each traveler should plan for, separate from the Kailash Yatra package: o Nepal Visa Fees: $50 for a one-month multiple-entry visa.
o Horse and Porter Rentals: $710 for 3 days of horse/horseman and porter services.
o Tipping for Porter and Horseman: We suggest a tip of $42. Please note that tipping is entirely at your discretion.
o Support Staff Tips: At the end of the trip, we recommend a total tip of $150 per traveler. This amount covers $125 for the Nepali support staff and $25 for bus, truck, and emergency jeep drivers. The tip is collected as a group and distributed equally among all support staff. Please note that tipping is entirely at your discretion.
• Currency and Shopping
o We suggest carrying around $250 (in Nepali currency) for personal expenses, such as purchasing Shiv Lingams, Rudrakshas, or other religious items in Nepal.
o For additional shopping and personal expenses, we recommend bringing approximately $1,000 in USD and 1,000 Yuan for use in Tibet. While credit cards are widely accepted in major restaurants and shops in Kathmandu, they are not commonly used in Tibet.
o We can assist you with currency exchange, or you may visit local banks and money exchange services in Nepal to convert your currency.
Om Namah Shivaya! See you in the Himalayas.
